On November 12, 2010, The Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, Cultural & Educational Center of Port Washington, NY will present a Benefit Concert in Celebration of Hellenism and the Hellenic Thread in the Tapestry of American Culture. This concert was made possible, in part, by the generosity of Mr. George Dalaras, international singing sensation. He will perform on behalf of The Archangel Michael Church’s fundraising efforts to complete their new facilities. Mr. Alexandre Myrat will conduct Mr. Dalaras who will be joined by the CityMusic Cleveland Orchestra. A special feature of the evening will include original compositions by Christos Hatzis including the world premiere of CREDO (Pistevo), commissioned by the Archangel Michael Church.




George Dalaras ConcertGeorge Dalaras is a Greek singer, musician and recording artist of international fame. He has performed in hundreds of concerts and has recorded over 100 albums throughout his illustrious career. Mainly known for singing a variety of Greek music styles, Dalaras has also performed music of other cultures, such as Israeli, Spanish, Arabic and Latin American. He has collaborated with many contemporary Greek composers and has worked on many projects, callaborations and live performances with other international performers, including Sting, Bruce Springsteen and Jethro Tull. Aside from the recognition of this music, Dalaras has also been known for his humanitarian effortsaround the world. He was recently named Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Refugee Agency.



George Dalaras ConcertCityMusic Cleveland is a professional chamber orchestra that exploded onto the scene in 2004. CityMusic Cleveland has won critical acclaim and rave reviews for both it's artistic excellence and for the contagious excitement of it's musicians. Founded on the philosophy that music should be enjoyed by every citizen, young and old, CityMusic Cleveland has earned a reputation of bringing quality classic and contemporary music to the masses, providing a series of live concerts to the audiences throughout Greater Cleveand, Ohio. This performance will be the orchestra's first New York appearance.

George Dalaras ConcertAlexandre Myrat is an accomplished composer and world–renowned conductor. He is the recipiant of three Acadamy of Records awards. Initially gaining his reputation conducting in France and his native country Greece, Alexandre Myrat's prowress for interpreting the works of the great composers lead him to conduct orchestras throughout the world, touring in England, Italy, the Russian Republic, Germany, Norway, Mexico, Israel and Canada. This concert performance will be Alexandre Myrat's United States debut.






George Dalaras ConcertBorn in Quebec City, oboist Suzanne Lemieux obtained a master's degree from the University of Michigan and studied in Paris and Lausanne. Ms. Lemieux was a member of the Calgary Philharmonic and the Victoria Symphony before joining the Symphony Nova Scotia in 1986. She taught oboe and chamber music at the University of Victoria and is currently on faculty at Dalhousie University. She is frequently featured as soloist on Symphony Nova Scotia's Baroque, Pops and Celebrity Series. More recently she has been guest principal oboe with the Montreal Symphony, the Singapore Symphony and the Vancouver Symphony.



George Dalaras ConcertChristos Hatzis has been coined "One of the Most Important Composers in Canada". He is a multi award–winning composer and is recently enjoying international recognition for his work. His music has been featured in many international festivals, is being broadcast regularly by CBC and foreign networks and is frequently performed worldwide. Christo has composed Credo (Pistev) exclusively for this performance, to celebrate the weaving of Orthodox faith into the Greek and Greek–American culture.
